Congregation Adas Israel Travels To Costa Rica For A Transformative Mindfulness Retreat

Led by Rabbi Lauren Holtzblatt, RABBI SARAH Krinsky and Darci Lewis, this retreat is more than a change of scenery—it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the deepest parts of ourselves.

Whether you've journeyed with us before, or this is your first time travelling to Costa Rica with your Adas community, we welcome you.  The Breathtaking Retreat experience is unique, like each individual.  In our time together we will meditate, stretch, breathe, learn, explore, reflect and grow.  Through connection to the earth, sky, and sea, through learning Torah and song, retreat participants have an embodied mindfulness experience.  Following the retreat a new k'hillah exists, grounded in our Adas home.  Affinity groups, chevruta and opportunities for deep connection are interwoven into the fabric of the week.

Come solo, as a couple, bring a sibling or a friend.  Meaningful Jewish experiences awaits.

A Breathtaking Retreat With Your Rabbis & Darci by Your Side

Led by Rabbi Lauren Holtzblatt, Rabbi Sarah Krinsky and Darci Lewis, this retreat is more than a change of scenery—it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the deepest parts of ourselves.

Designed and facilitated by Karina Zilberman and Rabbi Marcelo Bronstein, this experience draws from over four decades of work at the intersection of Jewish wisdom, psychology, creative expression, and community-building. Each element is intentionally crafted to support both personal transformation and deeper communal connection.

TESTIMONIALS

“Being part of the Adas Israel  Wellness Center retreat in Costa Rica was a transformative spiritual experience for multiple reasons, including the multigenerational relationships that were built and the strong community that emerged.
Building on the experiential, embodied programming  here at Adas, taking time in a beautiful place with two of our beloved rabbis and our director of the Family & Wellness centers was a gift to us all.
It was a privilege to study, learn and experience mindfulness and meditation from their treasured mentors and teachers.”

“A deeply intentional and dynamic retreat — most impactful to me was the intergenerational context of the group, fostering connection and learning across so many chapters of life. And, it’s not a group that disbands at the end of the trip never to be seen or heard from, we all returned back to Adas and continue to stay in community and relationship with one another.”

“I can’t say enough how incredible it was to study torah in a beautiful, Garden of Eden-style setting with a cross-generational group. We had so much to learn from each other, from our facilitators, and from nature itself. Starting the morning in a quiet, meditative practice, with the sound of the waves and a gentle breeze, gave me an overwhelming sense of pure, simple, contentment. It was more than a vacation, it was more than a meditation retreat, it was more than a Jewish spiritual experience. It was all those things and something more; a chance for my body, my mind, and my soul to find rest and respite away from the necessary chaos of daily American life.”

“This retreat was an amazing experience for me. Having the opportunity to explore the intersection of Judaism and mindfulness practice with such astounding teachers, in such a beautiful location, and with such an authentic group of participants was truly special. It made me feel more connected to my Adas clergy and community. And the time at the beach was pretty nice too.”
